Welcome to our ancient world.
A Rainforest that has evolved uninterupted for 135 million years.
A river with uniquely adapted vegetation dating back 35-40 million years.
Crocodylus Porosus, the oldest (and largest) living reptile still on earth, unchanged for over 100 million years, with fossil records dating back almost a quarter of a billion years, commonly called Saltwater Crocodiles!
All of it acknowledged for it's ecological significance, yet with so much of it's wonder endangered by mankind's intrusion. The result has been unique legislative protection through World Heritage listing, State Marine Park status and Conservation Management parctices. But no longer can visitors necessarily expect to experience the values and beauty of natures riverbank masterpiece by simply getting on any tour boat. The length of river between Daintree farming village and the Daintree Ferry has become overrun with eroded farmland to the water's edge and fast moving commercialised cruise operations, servicing bus loads of "bang for your buck" visitors more interested in how many activities can be crammed in a day than an immersion in environs that will leave lasting impressions and memories.
There is an alternative.....Eco-certified, genuine and proud - Daintree Rainforest Rivertrain!
Downstream from the ferry there is only one land accessible property, no eroded farmland, no other tour boats and this is where you should depart, private, unobtrusive and still demonstrative of this historically unique environment - Daintree Rainforest Rivertrain!
Daintree River Boardwalk (at the same property) offers discerning visitors the opportunity to compliment their interprative river tour by entering an otherwise inaccessible environment of vital Mangrove plantlife and low lying Rainforest. This short walk is the best of it's kind in the world.
